Meet Your Acupuncturist

Ousa B. Hymas Samkara, MSOM, L.Ac., grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities from Mesa State College (now Colorado Mesa University) and her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado.

While in Boulder, Ousa interned for two years with Dr. Jeffrey Dann, Ph.D., L.Ac., a well-known Japanese-style acupuncturist, and studied tai chi for three years with Laura Ting at the Gu Feng Tai Chi Club. Ousa has also practiced yoga for over a decade, completing yoga-teacher training with Nancy Stechart in 2006, a senior intermediate Iyengar yoga teacher in Hotchkiss, Colorado.

Ousa is nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and she maintains active membership in the Acupuncture Association of Colorado.

When Ousa is not doing acupuncture, Chinese medicine, or practicing The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy, she loves doing yoga, tai chi, dancing, trail running, reading, and spending time with her husband and dog in the mountains and desert.
